visit to underwoods...

yesterday was a beautiful day here in so i decided to venture out to the farm with marcus in a pair of hand-me-down osh kosh overalls to feed the animals, pick strawberries and run around. i brought my camera along for a few shots.

marcus turned eighteen months old on the third. he is babbling away and says a few words like: fishie, tank you, peek-a-boo and baby. he also loves to sign words like: more, please and baby. he is a very busy boy but so much fun to be around...

he just l-o-v-e-d feeding the animals...

since becoming a big brother to damian and sophia, marcus is learning to share...

we picked strawberries and brought home mushrooms, spinach and onions for a homemade bean soup for the rainy days coming up!

mamma is doing her best to soak up all of the days until i return to work on the sixteenth....it will be tough returning after being off for the last six months...

today we are enjoying a lazy sunday, listening to breakfast with the beatles and anticipating a week long visit with our aunt ginny. we are so excited :) hope everyone is enjoying this weather! rain is in the forecast...

What a great place to take a little fella in overalls! So much to see and do! Can't help but think of all the fun he'd have here @ Rachy's in the UK. Lots and lots of sheep and their new little lambs . . . and farms with all the farm animals you can see up close and personal. Then there's the muck. Welly Days. Fun stuff for little boys who like to get down and get muddy. Stone walls, green hills and ponds with different kinds of ducks in them, frogs, tadpoles to be caught, blackbirds signing in the dead of night, yellow daffodil patches in open fields and parks . . . purple and lavendar crocus blanketing the countryside. Robins pulling worms from the wet ground. Squirrels scurring up tree trunks and leaping from branch to branch. The smell of rain. Almost every day. Moss on rocks, stones and fallen tree trunks. Gray days with gray stone farm buildings and gray stone walls and gray skies. Photographer's delight! Pick a gray day and put a boy with some dingy raingear and bright boots in that gray setting, and it's vintage! Wishing all of you were here . . . .

So, Dillon's favorite song about the sheep in the fields has been altered a bit . . . so if you know the tune to Baa Baa Blacksheep, here are the words:

Baa Baa Blacksheep,
Have you any spots?
Yes sir, yes sir,
I've got lots!

One on my finger (show finger)
One on my thumb, (show thumb)
One on my bellybutton (point to)
And one on my BUM (point to)

giggles, giggles and another round
of this song . . .

(Giggle, giggle)

Aren't kids just the BEST??
